Spam Prevention

Is there a way to limit spam without using word verification or comment moderation in Blogger blogs?

I recently had to suspend anonymous comments on my blog to deal with this.

A group of us have started a group blog and we don't want to limit interaction with our readers nor use either the word verification or comment moderation. Thanks!

I'm not sure what you're using for your blog. I use Wordpress with the Akismet plug-in. It's pretty good at filtering out most spam. If you're using Blogger, I can't help you. If Blogger supports plug-ins, you can try to search for something similar to Akismet.

I see nothing wrong with word verification. Honestly, it's a standard in comment forms, etc, and probably the easiest way for moderation. I don't feel like it's any sort of "insult" or limitation in commenting if a blog has word verification.

I hate word verification. I have almost 100 blogs I view a day and that extra step adds time... better to just cut em out as the spam appears, don't punish your regulars

You may also want to consider the bad behavior plugin if you use Wordpress. It works before the Akismet plugin does.

Thanks Dawn, Emily, A Year, Stephanie, for taking the time. We're on Blogger so I doubt the plug-ins will work.
Emily, I do take the trouble to do the word verification when I want to comment somewhere but I know it puts off a lot of people.

Not sure why someone would take the time to write out a thoughtful comment and then be deterred by having to type one more word. :)

You're running up against the limitations of the Blogger platform. Both WordPress and TypePad deal with comment verification in a much more seamless fashion.

Anita, I think that more than the word, it's having to comment, then wait for the word verif. to kick in, and then wait for your comment to be published - it's not always a one-step, straightforward thing. :)

The Blogger spam catcher or whatever it's name is works for me.
I don't have word verification and Anonymous is allowed.
So far so good.

replica louis vuitton handbags is attractive in outer appearance and exquisite in inner side. There are flat handles that are adjustable, a removable padded shoulder strap, an address holder which can be stamped with baby or mother’s initials, and a key ring holder. In addition, compared with the traditional diaper bag, lv handbag has more functions, such as a change purse, a board which could print the address of the holders by hot-stamping and the designer adds an extra band on both sides, which could save labor when you carry louis vuitton bag on

Hi, listen, I'm pretty new on this blogosphere and Internet thing, so I don't know if there's a sort of "subscription" method that I can use in order to receive notifications of your new entries...? Thing is I enjoy reading your blog a lot and I'd like to be up to date with your posts!
